Ordering a Cake
Order Timeline for Wedding Cakes & Large Orders: It is imperative that you plan ahead. For a wedding, even a year or, in some cases, two year's notice is appropriate. This locks in the Designer's service and gives you the reassurance that your special cake will be the very best creation imaginable. When you contact me, I will ask you if we might set up an initial, free, no obligation consultation. If you have an emergency or last minute need for a wedding cake or large order, the Designer will consider it, but there is no guarantee that your need can be met, as she does not compromise on quality to her clients. Thus, the bare minimum is 6 weeks notice, to include the consultation with the Designer. Less notice than that is completely up to the discretion of the Designer regarding her schedule.
Deposit Policy for Wedding Cakes and Large Orders: A deposit is required to hold the Designer's service. A minimum of 6 weeks notice is required for weddings or large orders. The purpose of the deposit is twofold: it holds the Designer's service, and it will be refunded after the event upon the return of all the Designer's equipment, in satisfactory condition. The Designer reserves the right to increase the standard deposit to cover the entire cost of costly items such as silver, ceramic, crystal, etc. Designer must reserve the right to retain the deposit, under any circumstance, if the client chooses an alternative source. Purpose of and Return of Your Deposit: The $100 deposit has two purposes. It books me for the date and is my insurance that all of my equipment will be returned. Any and all equipment must be returned in the same condition within 24 hours of the reception. I WILL cash the deposit check. When the equipment is returned, the deposit will be returned to you (or party representing you) via a check from Blue Sky Cake Designs. Please note: I do not apply the deposit toward the total. I will accept a personal check for the deposit. Returned personal checks are subject to a $35 recovery fee. Payment Policy for Wedding Cakes and Large Orders: Cash, cashier's checks, or money orders payable for the amount to "Blue Sky Cake Designs" are the only accepted forms of payment. In order to keep costs down and keep the focus on creativity, the Designer does not accept credit card payment, personal checks or credit card checks as payment. Payment in full is required 2 weeks prior to the event/delivery or earlier. If payment is not received on time, the Designer reserves the right to cancel the order, and retain the deposit. This is to ensure that I can continue to provide you with the highest quality ingredients, as well as the finest craftsmanship. Be prepared to discuss your payment method upon initial consultation
Delivery Policy: You enjoy the luxury of free delivery within the city limits of Manhattan, Kansas, which may be subject to change during extremely high-volume seasons such as graduation, etc. A delivery charge is assessed for out-of-town deliveries. Please contact the Designer if you have any questions. What a relief to know the cake is all taken care of! You can focus on other last-minute details and enjoy your guests!
Limitation of Liability: Due to food safety, the Designer reserves the right to determine whether delivery distance or reception situation may compromise the food safety/service of her creations. If there is an issue with this, it must be disclosed openly to the Designer, who will assess the situation and, of necessity, reserve the right to make the necessary decision to protect the interest of Blue Sky Cake Designs and potential guests.
Cake flavors: The most requested flavors are Classic White (Almond, Light Citrus, or any flavor!), Sour Cream Chocolate, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, Carrot & Marble. If you desire another flavor, just ask—I’ll make it for you!
Icing flavors: The Heavenly Buttercream is by far the most popular choice. Whipped for 40 minutes per batch, you will experience the lightest, fluffiest buttercream you have ever tasted! Chocolate Buttercream and Butter Cream Cheese Frosting are also popular choices.
